Dr. Melanie Vallejos

Dr. Melanie VallejosDr. Vallejos was born in California. She moved to Maui the first time when she was 19 years old and worked as a hostess/ waitress at El Crab Catcher in Lahaina. She moved back to California to further her education. After graduating from The University of California San Diego she attended University of the Pacific School of dentistry in San Francisco where she worked for 2 years before moving back to Maui in 1995. Dr. V as her staff calls her has been involved in

– the board of dental examiners for 8 years
– Maui county dental society
– American Dental association
– 5 dental missions to 2 countries
– Seattle Study Club
– Instructor at UHMC

Dr. V strongly believes in continuing education and mission work and involves her staff.

Special interests are leisure time with her husband and 2 children. Dental missions to foreign countries. She has a passion for anything food especially collecting personal recipes from people all over.

Nora

NoraNora first discovered her passion for dentistry when she was hired as a dental assistant in her sophomore year in high school. Through a 4-year scholarship program, Nora went on to get her Bachelors of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and graduated in 1995. Soon after, Nora met Dr. Vallejos and has worked with her since.

Working with Dr. Vallejos really opened Nora’s eyes in dentistry as Dr. Vallejos is a great believer in continuing education and giving back to the community. With Dr. Vallejos, Nora has attended numerous dental conferences and has taken amazing courses such as Dental Hygiene Mastery, Blatchford Seminars and Periodontal Laser Therapy, and has gone on several dental mission trips to the Philippines.

Nora has played an active role in the Dental Hygiene Community as she has served as the Hawaii Dental Hygienists Association Maui trustee, as well as Maui County Dental Hygiene Association (MCDHA) President and Vice President.

In addition to great boss and co-workers, Nora credits her love for her job to her patients. They come from many walks of life, and there are always so much to learn from them. The genuine connection she has made with her patients in the span of her almost 20-year hygiene career makes her feel completely Blessed.

Nora enjoys spending time with her husband and her children Shanelle (15), Alexander (12) and Marc-Angelo (6), as well as her 2 dogs Casper and Hunter. Nora also plays an active role in her children’s Taekwondo Center as an Executive Board Member, where she spends much of her time when not at work. She is a proud mother and enjoys being a part of her children’s events and activities.

Mara Sandi, CDA

Mara SandiMara was born and raised on Maui. She started working as a dental assistant after high school in 1996 where she first met Dr. Vallejos and Nora. Mara’s passion for dentistry blossomed as she attended numerous classes and dental seminars with the team. Some of these classes include: Blatchford Practice Management, Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies Seminars and Occlusion Connection Continuing Education. Although she started as a dental assistant, Mara’s genuine care for her patients steered her to the front side of the office where she was able to provide individualized comprehensive care for her patients; which she is currently the office’s patient care and financial coordinator, as well. Alongside Dr. Vallejos she is in charge of keeping the entire office running smoothly.
Mara’s knowledge in Dentistry and Practice Management hasn’t gone unnoticed. Shortly after becoming a Certified Dental Assistant in 2003, Mara was offered a position as the Dentrix Office Trainer for Maui, which is the software used by many dental offices. She was also offered a teaching position at the University of Hawai’i Maui College where she teaches Clinical Dental Radiology and Classroom Dental Practice Office Management.

 

Alia Garcia

Alia was born and raised in Pāʻia, Maui. She graduated from the Dental Assisting program in 2016 and started working for Dr. Vallejos. She’s enjoying this as her first opportunity to work in the dental field for the first time. She’s blessed to be here and could not imagine a better or more positive working environment. She respects the knowledge, kindness, and excellent skills of Dr. Vallejos that enables us to provide the best dental care possible.
Her favorite part of working with the team is learning new things about dentistry and working with patients. The teamwork and upbeat attitudes shown from all of the staff makes each work day, a great day. She enjoys going to the beach, working out, and spending time with her family.
